Remembering Home: A Celebration of the Caribbean Immigrant Story

April 27 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Come join us for an evening filled with culture, music, and memories as we honor the rich history of Caribbean immigrants. The the Leaving Home Experience is an insightful discussion coupled with a compelling play reading delving into the immigrant experience in South Florida.

Hear a reading of “Leaving Jamaica,” a short play featured in the esteemed City Theatre Miami Homegrown Playwright program. Following the reading experience a thought-provoking dialogue exploring the themes of departure, belonging, and the complex interplay between what we leave behind and what we carry with us to our new homes.

Don’t miss the opportunity to provide valuable feedback to the playwright, Nerissa Street, as she invites insights into her work. They say those who migrate have distorted memories, and create identities to combat homesickness. Do the characters of this play sound authentic to the many reasons we have to leave home?
