Island SPACE Caribbean Museum

About Island SPACE

Island SPACE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and advancement of arts, culture, history, and educational initiatives that represent the Caribbean region, in South Florida and the broader diaspora community. The organization produces events, and supports independent artists, organizations and groups who deliver high-level presentations, in various art forms.

Island SPACE Caribbean Museum

Island SPACE Caribbean Museum is an archive, exhibit and event space in Plantation, Florida featuring a collection of artifacts, iconic paraphernalia, cultural relics and historical data and fine art representing South Florida’s Caribbean communities. Inside the facility, guests learn the story of the history, heritage and culture of the Caribbean people and the impact of the Caribbean Diaspora on the American landscape. Our mission at Island SPACE is to elevate the profile of Caribbean art, history, and culture in every form throughout South Florida and the broader diaspora.

The goal of the Museum is to establish a one-of-a-kind space to unify the fragmented Caribbean communities and celebrate the shared Caribbean experience while building a prestigious, well-respected attraction for visitors from around the world. Additionally, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will preserve and promote history, culture, art and traditions, and engage multiple generations of Caribbean-Americans in the diaspora to learn about their ancestry and heritage.

The project fulfills the need to create a unified space for exploring and celebrating the ancestry, heritage and common traditions shared by Caribbean nations. Plan your visit or event today!

Early iterations of the project have won grants from the Community Foundation of Broward and the Broward County Cultural Division, have been featured on NPR and South Florida PBS, have received support from multiple consulates and tourism boards and have been viewed by over 37,000 South Floridians in a tour of the region.

Island SPACE Caribbean Museum receives generous support from Florida Power & Light Company, Westfield Broward mall, Grace Foods and the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Helen and Frank Stoykov Charitable Endowment Fund, David and Francie Horvitz Family Fund, Ann Adams Fund, Mary and Alex Mackenzie Community Impact Fund, Blockbuster Entertainment Unrestricted Fund, Robert E.
