Reggae Documentary

Our reggae documentary explores the island origins of reggae and its affiliated genres, how it has evolved, and how it has taken hold on the international music scene, in a story told by engaging voices in music.

The story will include broad themes around reggae and its derivative genres, as well as niche angles such as the impact of Rastafari and marijuana, the dancehall, sound system and dub cultures, the challenges faced by Jamaicans in capitalizing on reggae’s global popularity, and how the music has been successfully appropriated by cultures from Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Africa.
