An Evening with Author Dwight Maxwell at Island SPACE Caribbean Museum

Join Author Dwight Maxwell at Island SPACE Caribbean Museum on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 7pm to 9pm for a thought-provoking evening with Dwight Maxwell—English lecturer, award-winning poet, and educational scholar whose work champions Black African Caribbean voices in literature and education.

Maxwell will read from his groundbreaking book, It’s Not Just About Grades; It’s About Culture, which examines how Western school systems impact Black African Caribbean students and offers culturally grounded solutions for educational reform. His celebrated poetry, including his bestselling collection I’M-Migrant, has appeared in leading literary journals worldwide.

Executive Director Calibe Thompson will lead an in-depth conversation with Maxwell, exploring themes such as:
