¡Fiesta de Cultura! at Island SPACE Caribbean Museum
This Thursday, September 25th, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will come alive in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with ¡Fiesta de Cultura! — an evening of culture, history, and community. The event is free to the public, with donations welcome.
A Historic Unveiling: Celia Cruz’s Dress
The highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of a treasured new donation to the museum’s collection: a dress worn by the legendary Celia Cruz, lovingly donated by her family and presented by her niece. Known worldwide as the “Queen of Salsa,” Celia Cruz’s voice, energy, and vibrant style made her one of the most influential and iconic figures in Latin music history. This special addition to the museum offers guests a chance to connect with her enduring legacy.
Alongside this historic donation, the museum will also unveil a dress donated by acclaimed performer Melina Almodóvar, who will give a live performance during the evening. Melina has made her mark in South Florida and beyond with powerful vocals and captivating stage presence, and her contribution adds a contemporary layer to the cultural celebration.
Recognizing Leaders in the Hispanic Community
The evening will also feature the unveiling of a new Hispanic heritage installation, honoring the contributions of Hispanic legislative leaders, including mayors and commissioners from Broward County, recognizing their service and impact.

Guests can look forward to a rich program of speakers, presenters, and panelists, offering perspectives on culture, heritage, and leadership. The event is made possible through the collaboration of key community partners, including Hispanic Unity of Florida, the Hispanic Heritage Chamber of Commerce, and the Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO).
