Works by featured artists Louiveste Lacroix, Sophia Lacroix, Olivier Ganthier, Marie Maude Eliacin and Hamson Elysé
Plantation, Fla. – In recognition of Haitian Flag Day and in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will present the inaugural Heritage en Couleur Arts Festival on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. This immersive, indoor cultural experience honors the richness, resilience and creative brilliance of Haiti through music, dance, art and storytelling. An art exhibit of the same title and featuring works by the participating artists will hang as a dynamic background to the evening’s activities.
Tailored for culture lovers of every background, particularly young professionals of Haitian descent, the event offers a modern vibe while remaining deeply rooted in heritage.
Hosted by celebrated Haitian-American entertainer Mecca “Grimo” Marcelin, the program will feature a dynamic mix of performances and activities designed to educate, inspire and ignite pride.
Haitian Cultural Activities to Enjoy
Highlights of the event include:
- Live Kompa performance and dance sessions led by instructors from KOTR Konpa Dance Studio, inviting guests to experience the rhythm and movement of Haiti’s most iconic musical genre.
- A performance by spoken word artist Rebecca J, whose poetry blends cultural identity with contemporary themes.
- A performance by singer and TV host Leslie Dalencour aka “Boom Boom”
- Live painting by renowned Haitian artists, including OliGa, Assaf Graffitti, Louiveste and Sophia Lacroix and Marie Maude Eliacin, whose works will also be featured in the background of the event for the museum’s accompanying Heritage en Couleur art exhibition.
