Join Island SPACE for our spectacular end of year exhibit artist reception: Waves of Innovation, featuring forward-thinking works.

Island SPACE Caribbean Museum is delighted to invite you to the opening reception of Waves of Innovation: A Celebration of Caribbean Invention on Thursday, December 4th, 2025. This vibrant exhibition celebrates innovation in art, featuring Caribbean artists whose work is visionary, visually new and anticipatory of future trends.

Join us for an evening of stories told through artistic expression and artistic exploration as we showcase the following:

Featured Artists:

  • Guy Beckles a Trinidad-born, Dartmouth-educated artist and widely recognized as the only practicing kinetic artist in the English-speaking Caribbean, whose work blends engineering, mathematics, and physics into mesmerizing moving sculptures exhibited in institutions from Trinidad’s National Museum to galleries in London, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Toronto and beyond.
  • Robert Derrick – a Caribbean-born artist from Dominica, whose vibrant visual practice is shaped by studies at art schools in New York and Kenya and a career exploring Afro-Caribbean themes and design.

Event Highlights:

  • A meet-and-greet with Guy Beckles and Robert Derrick
  • A guided viewing of kinetic and mixed-media works in motion
  • Conversations with the artists and curator
  • Complimentary refreshments and networking with arts and education partners

See you there!
