Plantation, FL – In celebration of Women’s History Month, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum and Caribbean Professionals Network present their Fourth Annual Women’s History Month Celebration, an inspiring and empowering event dedicated to honoring the strength, resilience, and achievements of women. Taking place on Sunday, March 16, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., this year’s gathering will highlight the importance of wellness, healthy living and cultural pride while celebrating the incredible contributions of women. Caribbean Views on Beauty Standards
This year’s theme, Unmasking Our Beauty, explores the many layers of beauty—both internal and external—that shape women’s identities. Attendees will enjoy expert-led discussions on hair wellness, makeup and skincare, healthy sexual aging, and the healing benefits of juicing.
Renowned psychologist, professor, author, philanthropist, and advocate, Dr. Guerda Nicolas will deliver a powerful keynote address, “Women: Mental Health and Cultural Integration,” discussing the intersection of mental health and cultural identity while emphasizing the practice of self-compassion through challenging life experiences.
As part of the panel discussion moderated by Shatik Stephens—author and owner of The Finer Essence, Inc., specializing in pageant prep, modeling, wardrobe and image consultation—distinguished presenters will include:
- Marjorie Hollingshead – Skincare specialist and founder of Zainabu Natural Skincare. Hollingshead will discuss makeup artistry and ways to enhance beauty using natural ingredient-based products with minimal chemicals to optimize skin health.
- Dr. Tiffany McCalla-Bottorff – Board-certified physician and owner of Calla Genics, a medical and sexual and intimacy wellness center. McCalla will discuss healthy sexual aging, sharing insights into maintaining confidence and fulfillment in your intimate life as you age.
- Peggy Nisbett-Rigg – Trichologist (hair loss specialist), licensed cosmetologist, mentor, and educator. Nibett-Rigg will present on hair wellness, care and growth, sharing techniques and remedies for maintaining strong, healthy hair and practical hair maintenance.
- Timica Anderson – Owner of Tropileaf Juice Bar in Hollywood, Florida. Anderson will explain how nutrient-rich juices can boost immunity, detoxify the body, and enhance vitality.
Rum Cake Sampling and Other Activities
Attendees will enjoy interactive and culturally-rich ice-breakers, networking opportunities, artisan vendors, and other engaging activities designed to entertain and educate on Caribbean history and cultures. Free museum tours will be available before the event, so guests are encouraged to arrive early to explore the exhibits before the program begins.
A rum cake tasting and reception will follow, featuring an assortment of Caribbean rum cakes and black cakes infused with distinctive spirits, fruits, nuts, and spices.
While the event focuses on women’s health and well-being, men are also welcome, and organizers encourage attendees to bring daughters of appropriate age for an afternoon of enlightenment.
